Job Overview:
Our client is seeking a detail-oriented and highly organized Quality Assurance Manager (Toys) to ensure the safety and compliance of toys in accordance with UK and EU regulations. The successful candidate will be responsible for maintaining compliance with safety standards, testing, certification, and environmental regulatory requirements.
Key Responsibilities:
Ensure all toys and related products meet UK and EU toy safety standards, including conformity to regulations such as the Toy Safety Directive (2009/48/EC).
Review and interpret safety standards, regulations, and product documentation to ensure compliance with UK/EU legislation.
Maintain and update compliance records for all products, ensuring documentation is complete and up-to-date (e.g., safety assessments, CE/UKCA markings, test reports, certificates of conformity).
Prepare product safety reports and liaise with manufacturers, suppliers, and regulatory bodies to ensure compliance.
Conduct internal audits and inspections to verify that toys meet the necessary safety standards.
Track regulatory changes and new guidelines, updating the buying team on any relevant updates to laws or standards affecting the toy industry.
Develop and implement safety policies and procedures for the toy compliance process.
Investigate safety incidents or product recalls when necessary and prepare reports for regulatory bodies.
Actively contribute to the day-to-day activities of the company, demonstrating a willingness to assist with various tasks as part of a small and collaborative team.
Qualifications:
Knowledge or interest in toy safety regulations, standards, and testing requirements (e.g., EN71).
Prior experience in compliance, quality assurance, or safety management.
Strong attention to detail with the ability to interpret complex regulations.
Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
Ability to work collaboratively within a team as well as independently.
Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Word, PowerPoint).
Familiarity with product compliance databases or safety management systems is a plus.
Good problem-solving skills and ability to prioritize multiple tasks.
